Der Düstere Tag
Drawing inspiration from medieval art and the aesthetics of outsider electronic music, the project was formed in 2014. Over the 4 years of its activity, the 'Gloomy Day' recorded 4 albums that were compiled in sound and theme from disparate tracks recorded at different times.
In each album, 'Der dustere Tag' explores one separate area of style, which is commonly called the "dungeon synth".
So, “Sterbe” is a standard minimalistic dungeon synth, the next “Old Skipper's Tale” is closer to the early dark electronic music, the third “Ad Gloriam Eternam” contains the most complicated arrangements and is an outstanding example of epic orchestral music.
The album "Sterbe" was released in 2018 by the US label "Dark Age Productions" on cassettes in a limited edition of 100 copies, which tapes are currently a collector's rarity. The last album "Epitaph", which combines elements of ambient, dark synth, black metal and jazz (!), is the quintessence of all the work of the project. The Gloomy Day one hundred percent lived up to its name and after the release of all albums in 2018 announced the termination of its existence.
